Sonal Dudani · Maths Lead Practitioner
My name is Sonal Dudani and I'm the face behind Infinity Maths Tutoring. Why Infinity, you may ask? Just like infinity, making progress in maths is endless — there's always a next concept to master, a next grade to reach. My passion is removing the barriers to learning and building real confidence in maths.
I gained a BSc in Economics & Maths from the University of Sheffield in 2006, followed by a PGCE at St Mary's University. Since 2007 I've been teaching in secondary schools, building up a wealth of experience along the way, and I'm currently a Maths Lead Practitioner.
I'm enthusiastic about the relationships I build with students and their families — over the past years I've taught Years 7 to 13 across a full spectrum of abilities. With Infinity Maths Tutoring, every student receives a bespoke learning plan, with teaching methods differentiated to meet their individual needs.
During the first lesson with a new student, I informally assess their understanding of each topic relevant to their year group and attainment level, and record it in a colour-coded topic list.
Every student's list is matched to the scheme of work and exam board used at their own school — over my career I've built up knowledge of the syllabuses and exam board preferences of most local secondary schools. Together, we use the list to identify priority areas and co-plan lessons, updating the colour-coding as we go.
Each list feeds into a live, online logbook that also records what we've covered each lesson, what's planned next, and any homework — shared with parents by email after the first lesson so they can check in on progress at any time.
I pride myself on being an adaptable teacher, tailoring my resources and approach to suit each student. Students and parents can reach out for support outside of lessons at any time — I'm always available by phone, email or message if a student wants help with homework, or something they didn't quite follow in a school maths lesson that day.
I'm also happy to set suitable homework or online work for students to complete between our sessions, keeping momentum going week to week.
